Privacy Policy
Effective November 4, 2026
- You can browse without an account. To add drinks you sign in with your email address, which we never show to anyone.
- Drinks, photos, ratings, comments, public lists and who you follow are public. Your bottles, your favorites and your private lists are visible only to you.
- When you use an AI feature, the photo or text you send goes to Anthropic to be processed.
- No ads and no tracking. We count visits with a cookie-free tool that doesn't identify you. We never sell your information.
- You can delete your account and everything in it at any time from My cart.
My Cocktail Cart (“we”, “the site”) is a recipe site at mycocktailcart.com where people save, share and scale cocktail recipes. This policy explains what information the site handles and why.
Information you give us
- Your email address. Used only to send you sign-in codes and links and to identify your account. It is never shown on the site.
- Your cart name. The name you choose for your cart is shown next to everything you post.
- Things you post. Drink recipes, notes, recommended brands, drink and bottle photos, star ratings with notes, bottle ratings and comments, lists, and the carts you follow.
- Your bottles. The bottles and supplies you save, with brands and what's out of stock.
- Favorites. The drinks you mark with ♡.
- Your drink log. The dates you mark a drink as made, and any notes you add.
- Your shopping list. The items you add and check off.
- Reports and suggested fixes. Things you report, with the reason you give, and corrections you send about a bottle's details.
We also count how many times each drink is opened, as a single number per drink per day, to show what's trending. It doesn't record who opened it.
Photos you upload are resized and saved again as new image files before they leave your device, which removes hidden details such as camera location data.
Who can see what
- Everyone, including people who aren't signed in: drinks, drink and bottle photos, ratings and their notes, bottle comments, public lists, who follows whom, and your cart name.
- Only you: your bottles, your favorites, your drink log, your shopping list, your private lists and your email address.
- Site admins: reports, suggested bottle fixes and photos held for review. Admins can also correct bottle details and remove posts that break the terms of use. People you report aren't told who reported them.
Please don't post anything you wouldn't want the public to see.
AI features
Scanning a recipe, decoding a bar menu, Stock my bottles, Make me a drink, ingredient swaps, Make it a mocktail, standard recipe lookups and the bottle guide use AI. When you use one, the photo or text involved, along with relevant parts of your bottles and your favorite and highly rated drinks (if you leave that option on), is sent to Anthropic to produce the result. Anthropic processes it under its commercial terms, which don't allow it to train its models on that data.
New drink and bottle photos you add get a quick automatic check by the same AI before they appear; a photo that doesn't look like it's about drinks, or looks inappropriate, stays hidden until a site admin approves or rejects it. Recipe, menu and bottle photos you scan are not saved by us; only the results you choose to keep are. Standard recipes and bottle descriptions the AI writes are saved to a shared library everyone can see, without any link to who asked. To enforce a daily limit, we keep a log of when each account uses an AI feature and which one.
Information stored only on your device
Your browser keeps a few things locally: your sign-in session, today's fresh ingredients, your party plan, your sort and unit choices, whether you've confirmed you're of legal drinking age, and whether you've dismissed tips. To let recipes open without a connection, it also keeps copies of the public recipes, ratings and photos you've loaded. These never leave your device and are cleared if you clear the site's data. The site uses no cookies for advertising, tracking or analytics. If you install the site as an app, it also keeps a copy of the site's code so it can open offline.
Services that help run the site
- Supabase stores accounts, recipes, photos and everything else above, and handles sign-in.
- Resend delivers sign-in emails.
- Anthropic processes AI requests, as described above.
- GitHub Pages hosts the site, and Cloudflare runs its domain and email.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits: which pages are viewed, the site that sent you, and your country and type of device. It uses no cookies, doesn't build a profile of you, and doesn't follow you to other sites.
- Google Fonts and jsDelivr supply the site's fonts and a code library.
Like most websites, these services may see your IP address and basic browser details when your device connects to them, and keep standard server logs.
What we don't do
- We don't show ads, use advertising or tracking cookies, or follow you around the web. The only visitor stats we keep are the cookie-free counts described above.
- We don't sell or rent your information, or share it for marketing.
- We only share information if the law requires it, or to protect the site and its users from abuse.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your information while your account exists. You can edit or delete your own drinks, photos, ratings, comments, lists and bar at any time. To delete your whole account and everything in it, use Delete my account at the bottom of My cart, or email privacy@mycocktailcart.com from the address you sign in with, and we'll do it within 30 days. You can also write to us to ask for a copy of your information or to correct it.
Age
This site is about alcoholic drinks and is meant for people of legal drinking age (21 in the United States). The site asks you to confirm your age on your first visit, and again when you create an account; we record the time you confirmed it, not your birth date. Please don't use the site if you're under that age. If we learn that an account belongs to someone underage, we'll delete it.
Security
Sign-in uses one-time email codes and links, so there's no password to steal. Access rules in the database stop anyone from changing what isn't theirs or reading what's private. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care to protect your information.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll put a notice on the site.
